James started athletics at the tender age of 13 where he met his previous coach, John Powell who would be the same coach that would take him to the Olympics Games 13 years later. James was a rising young talent and a great junior, winning numerous English School’s, and Junior national titles in the 200m.

James was praised by Former Head Coach Charles Van Comennee in 2011 as the "ultimate professional".

James is well known for auctioning himself on eBay, to raise much needed funds to further his athletics career in 2012. James was ranked number 3 in Britain in 2011. His efforts didn't go unnoticed, and although did not receive anything from eBay a private company approached him with a year’s sponsorship to fund him for the Olympics Games. James won the 2012 Olympic Trials in the 200m, and booked his place on the Olympic team. James didn't perform as well as he wanted to at the Olympic Games, as he failed to reach the Semi- Finals which was well within his capabilities. James now knows what to expect, and believes he can be one of the best sprinters in the World.

James is currently training in Loughborough with Rana Reider who coaches 2012 Olympic Triple Jump champion Christian Taylor.
