Golden Beagles Rule the World

From the likes of sporting greats; Jim Peters, Daley Thompson, and Iwan Thomas Newham and Essex Beagles AC athletes continue to make their mark in athletics history. At the 2013 World Athletics Championships at the Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow, Russia it was time for both Christine Ohuruogu, and Mo Farah, to join the long list of esteemed Beagles greats.

Christine claimed a second 400m World Title on 12 August 2013, becoming the first British woman to do so, in a time of 49.41s, and also overtaking the great Kathy Cook's British record set back in the year Christine was born (1984).

Mo not only fiercely defended his 5,000m World Title, whilst adding the 10,000m to his Olympic double portfolio, he became the first ever European to win the 5,000m and 10,000m at a World Championships.

Both Christine and Mo now lead the British ‘All Time’ rankings in their individual events; Christine in the 400m, and Mo in not only the 5,000m and 10,000m, but also the 1,500m, and Half Marathon.
