Lennon Sets New Club Record!

With strong winds and rain to contend with:

Beagles England Indoor Champion Leigh Lennon set a new 800m club record on Monday 4th May, at the prestigious British Milers Club PB Classic. At Millfield School Somerset. After using last weeks junior league match in Basildon as a experiment over the distance, Leigh used this race to set a fast time. Going through the bell in 63seconds with only the pacemaker for company. The pacemaker took her to 600m in 1:34, Leigh came home almost 4 seconds in front of the next athlete, breaking the tape in a new pb of 2:07.92, taking her to 2nd in the Uk rankings.

Afterwards Leigh said "I can go much faster and I am looking forward to the rest of the year. My aim is to get to the European Juniors this year and the World Juniors in my last year as an U20 next year, funding for training, travel and kit is really hard to find, but hope somebody will spot what I can do and step in and support me. On the 13th June for 12 days, I travel to Malta with my coach to continue my preparations for the European Junior Trials.

In the B 800m race, Beagles new signing 1500m specialist Kristie Leybourne also ran a pb winning the race in 2:16.03, almost 8 seconds faster then her two races last week.

Beagles new 800m star Robbie Schofield competed in the mens A race. with Robbie going through the bell in 54seconds. The pace got faster as Robbie pushed himself down the back straight followed by one of his biggest rivals James Senior. Coming off the final bend, Robbie forged a 4 metre gap on James and going away crossing the line in a new pb of 1:50.7 taking him top of the U20 Uk rankings. After the race Robbie said
"I really enjoyed the race and I know I can go much faster with the right conditions, I really want to get to the European Juniors this year and break 1:49".
