Beagles Win 2009 National Cross Country Champs
Congratulations
National Cross Country Champs
Whilst Mo Farah was breaking the 3,000m British record in Birmingham, his Cross Country team mates were battling through the 12k muddy gateway to London's Hampstead Heath, Parliament Hill to win the 2009 National Cross Country Champs.

The six scoring Beagles athletes through the finishing line were: 5th placed Moumin Geele in a time of 00:38:44, Lee Merrien (not pictured above) 13th in 00:39:50, Keith Gerrard 24th in 00:40:34, Dave Mitchinson 38th in 00:41:11, Kairn Stone 47th in 00:41:22 and Samatar Farah 87th in 00:42:25.

Teams:
Six to score - 1st Newham & Essex Beagles 214; 2nd Bedford &C 224; 3rd Leeds City 303; 4th Aldershot F&D 359; 5th Notts AC 407; 6th Tipton H 456... 112 teams closed in.

Nine to score - 1st Newham & Essex Beagles; 537; 2nd Leeds City AC 619; 3rd Bedford & County AC 650; 4th Notts AC 1097; 5th Tipton H 1330; 6th Aldershot F&D AC 146... 46 teams closed in.

Team Managers Bob Smith and Tony Shiret who ran round the course like expectant fathers urging their athletes on, were obviously beaming with delight over the win.

U15 Boys: Tommy Bower 93rd (00:17:20), James Watts 339th (00:20:19), Joe Robinson 374th (00:21:55). Total number of athletes to complete course 398.

U15 Girls: Doja Atanda 185th (00:18:11). Total number of athletes to complete course 315.

U17 Women: Neha Dabhi 118th (00:24:24). Total number of athletes to complete course 184.

U17 Men: David Kail 216th (00:24:59). Total number of athletes to complete course 285.

Junior Women: Venita Dabhi 101st (00:26:01). Total number of athletes to complete course 109.

Senior Women: Debbie Shepherd 446th (00:46:29). Total number of athletes to complete course 546.

Senior Men: Moumin Geele 5th (00:38:44), Lee Merrien 13th (00:39:500, Keith Gerrard 24th (00:40:34), Dave Mitchinson 38th (00:41:11), Kairn Stone 47th (00:41:22), Samatar Farah 87th (00:42:25), Stuart Major 88th (00:42:31), Scott Sterling 92nd (00:42:38), Andy Barber 143rd (00:44:10), John Pike 272nd (00:46:37), Andre Duque 402nd (00:48:24), Ben Hellmers 549th (00:50:30) and Jason Crispin 00:54:30). Olly Laws who was doing quite well over the first lap, had to withdraw from the race due to a bad fall.
