Beagles 2nd UK Women's League Meeting at Bedford International Stadium
On Saturday 4th July Newham and Essex Beagles senior ladies had their 2nd UK Women's League Meeting at Bedford International Stadium, on what turned out to be a very good day weather wise for athletics.

The day got off to an excellent start with Paula Peaty 2nd in the A hammer with a new PB and club record of 45.81meters, she was ably supported by Jo Bennett who was 3rd in the B event with 36.24meters, in the pole vault Melissa Strevens equaled her PB of 2.80 meters for 4th place, while in the B event Kelly Montgomery recorded 2.50 meters for 2nd place, the long jump saw Julia Machin 4th with 5.59 meters paired with Rochelle Jones a last minute stand in, who finished 3rd 4.60 meters.

The first track event saw Kristie Leybourne run the A 800 for 5th place in 2. 19. 82s and Adele Stach/Kavitz in the B 5th in 2.43.32. Next was the 100m with Claire Spurway 2nd in the A with 12.26 and Tope Faith/Nuga 1st in a new PB of 12.03. Good things continued on the field with 1st place in the A High Jump Julia Machin 1.75meters and 1st in the B for Charis O.connor 1.70meters. The triple jump saw Rochelle Jones 3rd 10.98 meters and Kelly Montgomery 3rd B with 9.01meters. The next track event was the 400m with Leigh Lennon claiming1st place with 56.48 in the A and Ashleigh Williams 4th in the B with 60.42. In the 100MH Helen Morton was 4th in the A with 15.63 and Kelly Montgomery 4th in the B with 19.36. The 200m saw Susannah Banjo thrust into the A race coming 4th in 25.74 and Tope Faith/Nuga 1st in the B in a new PB of 24.98. In the discus Charisse Tapang threw 33.42meters for 6th place A. and Jo Bennett threw 23.23 meters for 5th in the B. At the same time on the track Kristie Leybourne
was 7th in the A 1500m in 5.02.77 and in her first race for the club at this level Vanita Dabhi was 2nd B in 5.18.61. The last two field events saw Jo Bennett 2nd A shot 11.91meters and Julia Machin 3rd B 11.02meters. Helen Morton 8th A javelin 28.79 meters with Tope Faith/Nuga 7th B 9.68meters. The last individual track event before the relays saw Adele Stach/Kavitz in the 3000m 6th A 12.06.00.

As usual the relays are always the last events, the 4x100 saw Rochelle Jones, Claire Spurway, Susannah Banjo and Tope Faith/Nuga winning in a time of 47.87s a new club record. The final race of the day saw Helen Morton, Ashliegh Williams, and Susannah BanjoLeigh Lennon run an excellent race in a winning time of 3.53.98. When all the points were totalled up Newham and Essex Beagles finished in 3rd place with 181points. The last UK League meeting is at Wigan on August 1st.
