First 2009 Metropolitan League Results
The first Metropolitan League match of the 2009 / 2010 season got under way at Ruislip on Saturday 10th of October.

Senior men:
2nd Sam Farah - his best ever Met League placing and staked a solid claim for inclusion in the A team at next week's National 6 stage road relays. Very good run, obviously aided by having to run the last two miles to the course after Bob Smith ran out of petrol in the backwaters of Ruislip.
8th Scott Sterling - built on his good showing at Aldershot where he was the fastest runner in the B team. Finished strongly, picking up places all the way. Unusual warm-up included driving Bob Smith to his crippled fuelless car with a jerry can.
20th Harun Abdi - first ever cross country race for the 18 year old. Highly impressive. Will be interesting to watch his likely improvement this winter.
73rd Andre Duque - stopped to fasten shoe on second lap and lost ten places. Will come on for this run and finish top 50 soon.
123rd Ben Hellmers - held things together nicely as the race progressed. Prefers heavier conditions to the sub tropical weather rest of us enjoyed yesterday.
186th Jason Crispin - ran well and is clearly in good nick. There were 329 finishers - two of the non-finishers being the luckless Olly Laws (strained hip) and Colin Jenkins

Despite only fielding a team of 6 the team were fourth in Division 2, Team Manager Bob Smith said, "as soon as we field 12 in a race, we'll win".
