Mo Takes European Cross Country Silver - Again!

Mo Farah took Silver in the European Cross Country in Dublin, Spain's Alemayehu Bezabeh won gold.

Mo, who finished second for the second year in succession, stayed on Bezabeh's shoulder until the final stretch despite the Spaniard's repeated attempts to pull away.

Mo, who captured gold in Italy in 2006 fell behind in the final circuit of the 9,997m course but battled back to get level with Bezabeh, but had no reply to Bezabeh's fifth and decisive breakaway as the Somalia-born Brit collapsed over the line before receiving prolonged medical attention. Mo was carried off on a stretcher after collapsing with exhaustion following a neck-and-neck duel with Bezabeh who was born in Ethiopia, before losing ground again and coming in 17 seconds behind the winner.

However, 26-year-old Mo from Londoner finished clear of Ukraine's defending champion Sergiy Lebid for his second silver medal in two years.

Mo missed the medal ceremony to receive treatment at the medical centre.

Largely thanks to Mo's efforts, Great Britain's senior men collected team silver as Andy Vernon, Michael Skinner and Benedict Whitby finished 12th, 13th and 27th respectively.
