Famous Athletes
Asha Phillip
Asha Phillip has had a highly impressive youth career so far as an athlete. After joining the Beagles as a youngster, she became the first British Woman ever to win a global 100m Gold, winning at the IAAF World Junior Championships aged 16. Along with her highly impressive Athletics form, Asha has also been World Champion, in Gymnastics - specifically the double mini trampoline - winning Gold in the World Age Championships in the 15-16 girls category. Sadly, while competing in the Trampoline, she ruptured the Cruciate Ligament in her right knee, which ruined her dreams of competing in the Beijing Olympics. This led to a break of roughly 3 years before Asha was competing to the standard she would be happy with, and 2011 left her 7th in the UK Senior Rankings, and being selected as a team member for the relay team in Daegu at the World Championships. Undoubtably, Asha will now be focussing on London, growing up just a few miles from the Olympic Stadium.
