Mo Farah

2011 European Athlete of the Year Mo Farah needs no introduction. Winning the 5000m gold medal at the World Championships in Daegu has been the highlight of his career so far after a highly successful 2011. Mo started off the year by setting a European Indoor Record over 5000m in February witha time of 13:10.60. He then successfully defended his 4000m title at the European Indoor Championships in March.
It was however in the Summer when murmurs started that Mo Farah was a force to be reckoned with on the World stage. He set a European 10,000m record in Eugene, Oregon and in July ran a world leading 5000m in 12:53.11 in Monaco. Then came the World Championships, starting with the 10,000m. After kicking for home with 500m to go, Farah just got pipped on the line and had to settle for Silver. This didn't dampen British enthusiasm with Farah a trending topic on Twitter after the event. Within a few days he was up and running again, comfortably qualifying for the 5000m final. In the final, arguably one of the most exciting races of the championships Farah made history by becoming the first Britain to win a World Title over the twelve and a half lap race with a tactically astute performance typical of Mo over the past year.
