Mo Takes Silver in Daegu
Mo Farah put in a superb performance at the World Championships in Daegu to take a 10,000m Silver, and Team GB's first medal of the championships, in a time of 27:14:02. In an event that saw the defending champion Kenenisa Bekele drop out with an injury, Mo continued with the determination and confidence he has shown all season but was caught by Ethiopia's Jeilan.
Mo joined Newham and Essex Beagles in November 2004, and made his comptitive debut for the club in the the National 12 stage road relays in 2005, where the team finished 7th. One year later, Mo was back to help the team to its first ever 12 stage win, and he has also been a part of two winning National 6 stage relay teams, as well as competing for the club in the British Athletics League.
Joining Beagles coicided with Mo's elevation to world class athlete. In 2006, coached by Alan Storey, he won Silver at the European championships in the 5000m and followed this up at the end of the year with a win at the European Cross Country Championships. In 2007, Mo finished 6th at the World Championships, and was 7th in 2009. At the beginning of 2011, Mo relocated to Oregon where he is coached by Alberto Salazar. The move was vindicated earlier this summer when Mo ran new British Records for the 5000m (12:53.11) and 10,000m (26:46.57).
