Beagles Senior Men had a good showing in Saturday’s Southern 6-stage Road Relay at Aldershot with the A team finishing 14th of 103 teams and qualifying for the National Finals on Sat 5th October in Birmingham. The B team finished 63rd

This was the first time we have had two teams for a number of years and shows the progress we have made with establishing local training groups at Stratford.

The A team was led off by Charlie Brisley, who finished 2nd among very strong runners in 17 mins 46 secs. Callum Bowen-Jones dropped back to 12th with 19.27. The third leg saw Emmanuel Adedeji power through the field to 6th place with 18.38 on his Beagles team debut. John Gordon held position well, losing only one place on Leg 4 (19.14). Beagles closed with two of the Stratford based athletes, Seb Lawrence (19.55) and Charlie Everest (19.52). The team’s 14th place compares with 33rd a year ago and around 2 minutes faster overall.

On the same day, the Beagles star distance man Jacob Cann finished 3rd in the Westminster Mile in 4min01 sec. Well done Jacob!!

Our B team of Adam Robinson, Oscar Kent-Egan, Luca Zangari, Liam Tharme, Wayne Bell, and Lincoln Vaca-Hurtado finished a creditable 63rd and were affected by some illness and late pull-outs.

Any middle and/or long-distance runners wanting to join the group it will be at the London Marathon Community Track every Wednesday (get there by 19:00) starting 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿. The group is both female and male and standard-wise top 10-20 in a Park Run. Come down, no commitment to see if it is for you.

The very functioning of the club relies on the goodwill and support of its members and has been proud and grateful of the time given by countless members over the years. Managing club correspondence and communication.
Organizing meetings and recording minutes.
Handling administrative tasks and assisting the Membership Secretary.
Coordinating with other club officials to ensure smooth operations.

The responsibilities of the interim Treasurer will include:

Managing the club’s income and expenditure and its assets and liabilities
Maintain bank account(s) in the name of the Club in accordance with mandate ratified by the Committee
Producing an end of year financial report
Identifying a suitable individual to independently review the annual accounts
Regularly reporting back to the club committee on all financial matters
Depending on the type of legal structure reporting back to the relevant body as required.
Efficient payment of invoices and bills
Keeping up to date financial records

We understand that this is a significant commitment, but we assure you that your efforts will be greatly appreciated by the entire club community. Your contribution will help maintain the continuity of our operations during this transitional period.

Thank you for considering this request. Your support is invaluable to us, and we look forward to potentially working with you to ensure the continued success of the Newham & Essex Beagles Athletics Club.
